PURE BREEDS

I hatch pure breed hens as listed on the table below.  We do not have large quantities of pure breeds and they are not 'factory farmed'.  All the chicks are hatched from my own breeding groups and are fed from hatching on high quality Garvo feed which, rather than aim to finish the birds quickly, is designed to let the birds grow naturally.   This produces a stronger bird, much less likely to have problems as adults.

My pure breeds are initially raised free range in my garden and, when they are sexed, are moved into large pens where they fed either Garvo Fancy Hen Grower ration or Garvo Cockerel grower.  I house them close to the mature hens at various stages to ensure they are able to cope with everything they may be exposed to when they leave us, build up a natural immunity to disease, and are fit and healthy.

As pure breeds are more seasonal layers they don't tend to be available all year round.  We usually start to have well grown birds ready from July onwards.
