Just wanted to catch up after we collected the 2 Plymouth Rocks a fortnight or so ago to say thanks very much and how much we thought your whole set up and welcome were by far the best we've come across.

We'd have no reservation in recommending Newland Grange to anyone interested in owning chickens.

The 2 new girls ( Rocky and Skippy ) have finally settled in - it took a fortnight for the dust and feathers to settle but finally all's calm and they actually put themselves to bed with the others for the first time last night without being coaxed - long may that last!!!

Thanks again for your help - no doubt we'll see you all again soon.

Just wanted to thank you for the time you spent with us this afternoon in helping us choose the new additions to our family - the 2 Bluebells and 2 Rhode Rocks.  We thought your place was beautiful - a real pleasure to visit, and we also very much appreciated your advice and guidance.

Am attaching a couple of photos so that you can see that the girls have come to a good home and will be very well cared for.  One of the Rhode Rocks (now known as Martha!) was inside sussing out her new hen house when the photo was taken!!  She is the confident one of them all and was the first to find the feed and water!  We will keep them in for a couple of days to let them settle and get used to us and then will let them out to wander around the garden when we are at home.  Our daughter, Sarah, loves them and is impatient for them to start laying!!  She's named them already and is keen to be involved in their care, which is great.

You were well recommended to us and we will be delighted to pass on our recommendation to others.

Firstly I want to say how much we enjoyed meeting you and secondly to thank you very much for sharing your expertise and advice.  We both thought your whole business arrangements are AMAZING!  The concept is perfect as is the layout and the service you provide.

I especially appreciated the quite way you handled the birds - all of whom are now in their new quarters!  They were very placid when removed from their boxes and it will be interesting to see their reaction when let out tomorrow for the first time!  They have all come to a good home and I just hope we can protect them from any villainous predators!  I grew up on a farm and am/was very used to poultry and Al is looking forward to a new experience!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks for making us feel so welcome when we dropped our girls earlier.

Now I have seen your amazing set up I would never buy my hens from anywhere else, hubby and I were talking about how beautiful and spotless it was all the way home!

I hope you have a good (but no doubt very busy) bank holiday weekend.

I will email you over the week to check how my girls are, hubby says I am neurotic, but I can't help it, I miss them already!

Hi Sarah...the girls seem to have settled in ok. I had my 1st egg Tuesday from white hen (still can't agree on names) and another today!!!...So proud of her :)
I think she is the boss although Bluebelle had a little peck at the other 2 now and then too. Copper black is most definitely the friendliest and we can pick her up and stroke her no problem at all. Bluebelle seems the most 'flighty' and not keen on any contact from us but will eat from our hands. They were quick to realise what's in the shed...their food...and come running when i go anywhere near it!
we've had them out in the garden but I'm still wary of leaving them un attended as copperblack jumps up on chairs, table, coop, run etc and ways up the fences!
very thrilled with the new additions to the family, even my husband seems to be warming to them although he won't admit it!

Just a note to say thank you so much for the Orpington eggs, all of them hatched, the first three yesterday and the other two this morning (unfortunatly our hen smashed one a week into the incubation that was fertile).
They are already starting to explore the hen house with their mum keeping a close eye on them. They seem to be really happy so far so thank you for all your help and advice, it has really helped us and the hen's hard work paid off well.
Many Thanks,

Hi Sarah, we came up from Weston-s-Mare and bought 2 hens from you on 26 March. I attach a photo of our set up and a photo of the two new hens eggs with one Black Rock egg. The Black Rock is over 3 years old and does lay very large eggs. The sussex has been laying about 2 weeks and the columbine laid her first egg today and I'm really pleased with the colour.

hi, just thought I would drop a line and say thank you for the help and time you spent with us today, I have bought all my previous birds from poultry auctions and although in most cases cheaper you don't really know what you are getting, I made a 180mile round trip especially to buy some columbines for their blue eggs, after a short chat with sarah on the saturday I was pleased to hear that instructions were left not to sell them, I was also very pleased with the way that nothing seemed too much bother and all birds were checked over and as requested wings clipped, I also walked away with some Garvo and aother bits on your recommendation... I have already have a friend interested in the columbines for their own small holding and I will be contacting you shortly for a couple of pure breds... once again many thanks

Just wanted to let you know that the chucks and I got home safely on Good Friday.

The first couple of days were a bit traumatic because it was so wet and they dug holes in the bark chippings which filled with water which they started to drink.  I had to get in with them to fill the hole in the very far corner (very tricky) and they got a bit upset - not to mention me!!

However the sunshine has helped tremendously and they have settled in just fine.  They went to bed in the cube on their own on the very first night which was a relief.

Bluebelle (the Bluebelle - original huh!) laid her first egg on Friday, the second yesterday and we are keeping our fingers crossed for this morning.  The eggs are small but perfectly formed and very beautiful.  She is very bossy and very friendly.

Rhodie (the Rhode Rock) was very nervous and I was getting worried about being able to catch her but yesterday she I was able to get my hands around her and just hold her on the ground for a little while so I think we will be ok.  I do need to clip her wing though as she is 'flying' quite high and far and hit the glass conservatory door yesterday.  I think she will start laying soon as her red light is starting to get big and brighter.

Jalfrezi (the Blacktail) seems to have gotten a bit more nervous but otherwise is ok.  We think she is a chicken of little brain but she is lovely!

They have been allowed into the garden and are doing chicken things everywhere they can.  It's great watching them although I'm not too impressed with Bluebell deadheading my daffodils when they are still in full bloom.

I just love the noises and we are having lovely chats.

Thanks for all your help and showing me what to do.  It's very reassuring that I know I can ask your advice when I need to.

I should like to thank you and your husband (I didn't get his name despite us being there for about an hour!!) for all your help and advice in choosing our first chickens.  They have settled in wonderfully, and where eager to get out first thing this morning and say hello to Flint - one of our springers.  The columbines, Toffee and Caramel, are especially feisty - Toffee was the first one out of their small run yesterday, to investigate the old veg patch, and definitely did not want to go in last night - enjoying herself too much!!

Thanks you once again - we really enjoyed our time with you and are thoroughly enjoying our girls.

Just wanted to say a big thank for our chickens. We popped over on Saturday and your husband was fabulous, as was your son who was on chicken catching duty! He gave us lots of advice and practical tips and we brought home a sussex, columbine, black star, bluebelle and speckledy. They have settled in well and we even had our first egg this morning! I was very excited and ran all the way down our garden (which is quite long!) to proudly show my husband-couldn't have more pleased if I'd laid it myself!

They are already quite friendly or should I say food orientated!

But thank you for all your help. I can see it can become an addictive hobby so I'm sure I'll be back for more. I loved your Orpingtons and the Barred Plymouth Rock, both very lovely looking.

Hi
just thought i'd send you a little update re the 2 rocks and one speckledy we got from you in early Jan - all 3 are doing really well - oddly, Pepper the speckledy is by far the friendliest with a huge character!! We let them free range most days and as soon as she spots me form one end of the garden, she runs like a maniac to see me...

Just a short note to say it was a great success on Christmas day with Colette and the Grandchildren.
I had hoped to have one egg to show on Christmas day but was awarded with 5 eggs and 17 in the first 4 days, so they must be settling in !.
Thanks for your help and I am sure we will be in touch again.

Thank you for helping us to get started in a rewarding (and tasty!) hobby.  We bought 4 POL hens from you in September - all of which get on fine together, are amazing characters and are adored by the whole family.  They have so far laid 190 eggs which I reckon is not bad going for such young birds - they lay 4 eggs most days.  They are incredibly friendly (a bit too friendly...!) and very active - they sprint across the lawn when they see anybody in the window, and usually climb up onto the seat to look inside.  They have even been known to watch TV from the window sill.

Thanks again

Thought I would let you know how the chickens are settling in.  I'm glad we took your advice to have just the two as the coop would not have been ideal for four, but the girls are liking there new home so far.  They take the corn I give them from my hand and they are lovely. The dog was not very impressed but hopefully he will come round.

Well thank you for all your advice and we will see you again in the future.

Just wanted to let you know how the girls are settling in.  I came earlier this week and chose a Malvern Blue, Rhode Rock and Blacktail.

I was amazed to find an egg in the hen house the very next day, although I don't know who laid it.  The bonus was that it was a double yoker! Wow! The Blacktail was the first to come out and say hello and immediately ate grain from my hand, closely followed by the Rhode Rock.  By the following day all 5 girls ate from my sons hand!  The Ranger and Malvern Blue have buddied up and the latter has taken to coming into the house if the door is open.  As of yesterday they have been given day time access to the garden and are loving it, the RR has even eaten a slug and they all like strawberries!

I never realised that they would all have their own characters but the bravest, friendliest one is definately the Blacktail.  The Malvern Blue has just laid an egg and its a green one.

I want to thank you for taking the time to help us choose suitable hens and for the care you have given them.  They are all happy healthy hens and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending you to anyone thinking of keeping hens.

Thanks again

Becky

Just a quick note to thank you so much for our wonderful chickens.  They now own the garden and have rewarded us with their first egg yesterday afternoon.  Not sure which girl it was although we suspect if was the one with a white necklace.

They are really confident birds and happily follow us around the garden.  I've attached a photo which was taken just before they happily went back to roost but after they had spent yet another half hour tapping at our kitchen door - I may have to set up an account with autoglass!

Your help and guidance was invaluable last weekend and you made the experience of buying our first hens unstressful. Thank you.

Thanks again

Gavin

I am delighted to tell you that the chickens seem to have settled really well and I was very pleased to have our first egg yesterday so I am hopeful that we will have a few more over the next few days.

Thanks again for all your advice and support.  I am really pleased with my new hens.

Best wishes

We had 4 hens off you earlier this year and I just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know how lovely they are!  The kids love them and they are all laying now.  We have just bought 4 runner ducklings too, so have a nice little flock!

The hens are so entertaining and the Bluebelle is huge, she stands head and shoulders above her fellow hens!  The Ranger is cheeky sitting on the fork to get first pick of the juicy worms as we did over the veggie patch! Amber is our first layer and the Sussex is our escapee - she flutters off then panics and makes loads of noise  to be returned to their fenced off area.

Everyone always comments on how healthy and pretty they are and we have given your details for friends considering the 'good life'.

 Kind Regards

Just wanted to email you to let you know how are ladies are doing .... we brought four off you and they have all settled very well.  They are all very nosey and very cheeky and love to untie shoe laces!  They are all laying lovely eggs.

Just wanted to say thank you and to say how lovely the set up you have up there is.  Have recommended you to a friend yesterday.

Anyway, thanks again and wishing you all the very best and a lovely summer.

I just wanted to write and to thank you and Shaun for the hen house and hens that he delivered last Friday.  I know it has been really busy for you so thanks for fitting us in.

The hens are beautiful and I think seem really settled - they came straiight out of the hen house on Friday to look at their new house and that evening took themselves straight to bed - I was very impressed.

They seem so settled that we have also let them out into their extended run proected by an electric fence and there has been no attempt to escape.

Once again thank you for supplying the lovely birds - a few houses down from us also have hens as we hear them shrieking every morning, and we pride ourselves on the fact that our 4 lovely ladies just quietly cluck instead which to me shows a sign of contentment - and this must be down to the breeding and upbringing you gave them.

Thanks

Catherine

Just to let you know the lovely hens arrived back at Bosbury without any mishap and settled into their new home.  Were a bit quiet to start off with in the new surroundings but by this morning were pecking and strutting, and lo and behold by 11.00am had presented us with 5 lovely eggs, so all is well.

Many thanks

Patrick
