AMBERS

Usually very friendly, docile hens who enjoy human company.  Great choice for children.

Excellent layers of tinted brown eggs.

BLACKTAIL/RANGERS

A very friendly, placid traditional red/brown hen.

Blacktails have black neck and tail tips.

Rangers have white tail tips and neck feathers.

BLUEBELL

Very attractive larger hens in various shades of pale lavender grey to dark blue grey.

Good layers of 'plum' tinted brown eggs.

COLUMBINE

Columbines vary greatly in colouring, from a chocolate brown to a lavender grey, but most have distinctive 'pompom's' on top of their heads.  Some Columbines can be slightly flighty, although a good percentage are placid and friendly.

80% will lay a blue/green egg and the remainder will lay a pastel pink or brown egg.

COPPER BLACK

Layers of a darker brown egg.  Derived from the Copper Black Maran.

Lovely black feathers with a beetle green sheen and varying amounts of copper accents.

RHODE ROCK

Glossy black plumage with a beetle green sheen and varying amounts of gold  neck feathers.

BARRED ROCK/SPECKLEDY

Barred Rocks are a new breed based on the Barred Plymouth Rock.  Speckledys are based on Marans.

Good layers of brown eggs.

SILVER SUSSEX

Larger hen with varying amounts of white feathers.

Good layers of mid brown eggs.

SUSSEX

Lovely larger traditional looking hen with black neck and tail feathers.

WHITE STAR/CORAL

Very pretty, dainty white birds with large floppy combs.  They are fantastic layers.  White Stars are big characters, they are very inquisitive and friendly,  but can be quite fast if they don't want to be caught. Due to their lightweight bodies and large wings they can fly a little better than other breeds.  Corals are very similar in looks but with a more docile nature.

White Stars lay a China white egg. Corals lay a cream egg.

 BURFORD BROWNS

Black hens with a beetle green sheen and varying amounts of copper neck feathers, some are pure black.  They make excellent pets due to their docile, friendly nature.

Layers of the best quality brown eggs.  Renowned for their taste and superb shell quality.

(Burford Browns have a different vaccination programme to that shown below).

 COTSWOLD LEGBARS

A layer of pastel coloured eggs with superior quality yolks and whites.

A flighty breed but full of character with a distinctive 'topknot'. Hardy and resilient birds like their Burford Brown counterparts.

(Legbars have a different vaccination programme to that shown below).

GUARANTEE

The birds health is guaranteed for a week after sale.  If you are concerned about any health problems please contact me within the first week.  I'm sorry I can't guarantee them for longer, but I do feel this is fair as I have no control over how the birds are fed and cared for after they leave me, as well as any stress or disease they might be exposed to in their new home.

I feel that by offering a weeks guarantee, you have plenty of time to observe the birds at home, and be satisfied they are healthy before any outside influences beyond my control could affect them.

I am always happy to offer help and advice in the future.  I keep the 'Information' pages of the website up to date with the most commonly asked questions, but please contact me if you have concerns about your hens health or wellbeing, they are sold with a lifetime of free advice.
